Accommodation and conditions in Uganda

On a safari in Uganda, accommodation is generally of a good standard – always with respect for being in genuine, wild African nature. The hunting areas are vast, and accommodation therefore varies depending on where in the concession you are staying.

Typically, there will be a comfortable main camp as well as one or more smaller satellite camps, used during the hunt to minimise transport and maximise time in the field.

Accommodation is provided in classic safari tents, thatched tents or solid bungalows – all with private bathroom facilities. The standard is good and authentic, with a focus on comfort in nature rather than traditional luxury.

In camp, there is a shared lounge/dining area where meals are served and where hunters gather after the day’s activities. In addition, the campfire is a natural meeting point – a place to relive the day’s experiences and enjoy the unique safari atmosphere under the African night sky.

CLIMATE

Uganda enjoys a pleasant and relatively stable climate year-round, with daytime temperatures typically ranging between 20 and 25°C. Nights can be cooler – especially in the northern regions – so a warm sweater or jacket is recommended for early mornings and evenings.

There are two rainy seasons during the year – typically in May–June and again in October–November. Rain usually falls in short, intense showers and rarely has a significant impact on the hunting.

These rainy periods are also what make Uganda exceptionally lush and green throughout the year. The landscape is vibrant and diverse, offering a natural environment that differs from many traditional safari destinations with its dense vegetation and rich biodiversity.

TRAVEL AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Travel is typically to Entebbe International Airport with airlines such as KLM, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Brussels Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after return and contain blank pages. A visa for Uganda costs USD 100 and can either be applied for online prior to departure or obtained upon arrival.
