Scientific Name: Profelis temmincki
Subspecies: From a total of 3 described subspecies, 2 occur in this region: 1. Profelis t. dominicanorum: Southern China. 2. Profelis t. tristis: Tibet and central China.
Habitat: Dry, rocky forests, but also rain forest, open plains.
Description: Large wild cat weighing up to 11 kg. It reaches a total body length of 1,05 cm, without tail (55 cm). General colour rufous-grey with buff and dark grey facial stripes along the nose. Reminiscent of a small puma, but has longer legs.
Hunting method: With dogs, traps.
