Scientific Name: Sus barbatus
Subspecies: 1. Sus b. barbatus: Sumatra, Java, Philipines and bordering islands, Celebes. 2. Sus. b. oi: Malaysia and The Rivu Archipelago.
Habitat: Tropical jungle and secondary rainforest.
Description: Little is known about this pig of medium size. General colour is greish brown with a prolonged hairs of a lighter hue around the nose and jaw giving it the characteristic aparearance of being bearded. The male has prolonged lower canines.
Hunting method: Stalking, with beaters and dogs.
