Moose (Europe)

Scientific Name: Alces alces

Subspecies: None in Europe

Distribution: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Poland.

Habitat: Woodland areas. Often near lakes, bogs or swampy areas.

Description: Large deer (the largest) weighing around 200-400 kg and measuring up to 220 cm over the shoulder. General colour dark brown. It is easy to recognise the Moose because of its large size, long legs and the characteristic muzzle. The Moose can have two types of antler: Palmate and cervine.

Hunting method: Stalking, lying in wait or driven hunt.

Hunting available in: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Poland.
