Distribution: Circumpolar throughout the northern hemisphere., along the drifting ice belt. The Kuril Islands, northern Kamchatka south to Aleuten, the arctic coast of Russia, the Kola-Peninsula, and Novaja/Semlja.
Habitat: Drifting ice, bare,rocky coastlines and islands.
Description: Large Bear weighing up to 720 kg and measuring up to 1,60 m over the shoulder. It reaches a total body length of 2,50 m. General colour white to yellowish white.
Hunting method: Stalking, from boat, with dogs, on a kill.
