Distribution: Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland and most of the Eastern European Countries.
Habitat: Mature, high-timbered coniferous or mixed forest with dense understorey and steep, rocky, mountainous terrain.
Description: Long-legged, heavily built cat weighing around--------- and measuring up to - ---------- over the shoulder. The pelage is yellowish-brown in summer, paler in winter, spotted heavily on legs, but more sparsely on back. The tail is short with a black tip, the ears have long tufts.
Hunting method: Lying in wait, hunting with dog or hunting with bait.
