Distribution: In historic times in parks near Beijing. (Introduced into England in 1898).
Habitat: Low swamps with tall grass, and reed covered plains.
Description: Large deer weighing up to 300 kg and measuring up to 1,25 m over the shoulder. General colour greyish brown. The antlers are large, heavy and irregularly branched.
