Klein Papkuil is beautifully located approximately 115 km west of Kimberley, in the heart of the Northern Cape. The journey typically begins with a flight to Johannesburg, followed by a domestic connection to Kimberley or Bloemfontein – from where the real adventure begins.
Accommodation is provided on the family-owned farm, which has been in the family for generations and is now run by Madelene and Julius Gers with great passion and dedication.
Papkuil Reserve – home to Gers Safaris – lies in the midst of a raw and untamed diamond landscape, where nature remains much as it was generations ago. Together with a team of highly skilled professional hunters and trackers, Julius and Madelene have created an authentic hunting experience focused on skill, respect for nature, and the true essence of hunting – not just the final shot.
The area features vast savannas, open plains, crystal-clear skies, and spectacular sunsets. As night falls, a breathtaking starry sky emerges, and the silence becomes almost tangible. It is a place where natural beauty and a sense of adventure come together.
With around 40 game species, Gers Safaris offers impressive diversity – including buffalo, roan, sable, lechwe, tsessebe, as well as the possibility for completing wildebeest, gemsbok, and springbuck slams. The hunting grounds cover approximately 15,000 hectares on the main property, with access to more than 100,000 hectares of privately owned land across the Northern Cape.
The terrain consists of dense bush combined with open plains, creating ideal conditions for spot-and-stalk hunting. Here, your skills as a hunter are truly put to the test in a challenging and authentic environment where every step matters.
Both bow and rifle hunting are available, allowing you to challenge yourself and your abilities in the animals’ natural habitat.
At Gers Safaris, the variety is extensive and the opportunities are many. The goal is always to create a personal and memorable experience, where guests leave not only with trophies – but with stories, friendships, and memories for life. At the same time, there is a strong commitment to preserving the balance and integrity of the wilderness.
